For years, children’s soccer teams—known as the “Colts”—have been the starting point for discovering great soccer talents who later shine on the world stage. In the city suburbs and larger towns of Ghana, these youth programs have provided hope, development, and a platform for aspiring athletes. Today, we are excited to share how the Family Health and Education Foundation (FHEF) and Living Faith Revival Center are working to make this vision a reality for children in Suhum and surrounding villages, all under the leadership of Rev. Stephen Kwakye.

In the village of Oboadaka, located near Suhum in the Eastern Region of Ghana, Rev. Kwakye and his team have established the Oboadaka Soccer Academy—a groundbreaking initiative offering a lifeline for children from impoverished and malnourished backgrounds who otherwise would not have the opportunity to pursue their dreams. Through this academy, we are providing hope and the chance for these young talents to develop into extraordinary soccer stars over the next few years.

The academy’s opening ceremony in February 2025 was a significant milestone, attended by local community leaders, residents, children, and honored guests from the Academy’s American leadership team. The excitement and hope generated by this event have already begun to impact the entire village and surrounding communities. More importantly, the academy is also an avenue to introduce these kids to the love of Jesus Christ. As part of the broader mission, a church was planted in Oboadaka six years ago, and today, many of these children are beginning to attend church services, experiencing not only physical transformation but spiritual growth as well.

Our mission is simple: to offer every child the opportunity to develop their talents, regardless of their background. Whether through soccer or spiritual guidance, we are determined to empower the next generation of leaders and athletes. But we need your help to make this vision a reality.

While an initial missionary from New York generously provided a few jerseys during Rev. Kwakye’s last visit, the children still play soccer barefoot. The need for soccer equipment—shoes, jerseys, balls, and other essential gear—is urgent. With your donation, we can provide these kids with the tools they need to succeed, both on and off the field. More importantly, your support helps spread the love of Christ through the game of soccer.

The Living Hope Soccer Academy is now working closely with a dedicated team of leaders from the United States who are committed to the long-term success of the academy. This American leadership team is actively involved in supporting the academy’s growth, providing resources, and planning future expansion, ensuring that the academy can offer even more opportunities for local children to excel and thrive.
